Does Self-Management Sound Better?
Rory Vaden in his compelling book entitled “Procrastinate on Purpose” happened to be very inspiring for me. As well, when start to write this, I am not so sure of whether you need this or not. What I know is I want to give something I like to others as a mean of sharing. It is not my case to waste your priceless time to read this. The underlying value is I know for so long that I would get what I give.
In Rory
Vaden did I feel so surprised that a lot of his thought happens to be
outspokenly so similar with my thought. No worry, I just want to flatter over
some thoughts. Here is one of them.
Most of us
believe that time management is an extensively substantive skill to learn. I
was indeed including them. But one thing I always believe which contradicts the
notion. Learning to manage myself is worthier than just learning to manage our
given times.
Rory
affirms that there is no thing like time management. No matter how smart you
are. Time will always run twenty four hours in a day, 7 days in a week, and so
forth. Arguably, we believe that our time fixed thus we have to manage our
times wisely. But few of us realize that all we do is certainly not managing
the time. Instead, we manage our activities to suit the remaining time. No
wonder if sometimes we prone to fall and blame the unsupportive time for
something we cannot. The question then is how can we still call this as time
management? And, does self-management sound better?
Self-management
sounds more making sense to me -personally. Why does it happen? All we can do
is managing our selves not managing the time. Either, we cannot manage other
people no matter how close our relationship is. A king may instruct and manage
his men to oblige a thing he likes but there will always be a man or two who
might if not rejecting directly would partially reject or disobey. For we are
not the owners, we cannot expect fully others to always do what we want. So, no
one else should change but us.
The idea of
self-management gives me more insight of how we deal with unexpected happening.
We are all easily falling into mistakes and dreadful feeling. It is our natures
to be so emotional in some ways. It easily translates into unwanted feeling,
dread or even frustration once we face an unexpected result after all of what we
have done. We easily prey either others for our truly mistakes or even time. What
a pity.
Understanding
this can be a helpful tool to carry out better deed. If one resulted
unexpectedly or untimely, an ease should have been there too. Those who enable
their self-management would likely be able to see the root of the causes and overcome
it at once. On the contrary, people who do time-management will likely juggle
over other actions they planned if he survived the situation. Yet in the
meantime, it is commonplace that ones without self-control would lose all of
his-managed-time planning once encountered a problem or untimely matter.
Therefore, understanding self-management is at least worth not only does it sound
better but also helpful to overcome the effect of unwanted result.
It is not
enough of course to just state the self-management without knowing exactly what
self-management meant is. But to keep this writing short. Then, my next writing
will give a concise explanation to this helpful term. Thanks for reading.
